About Nick Zafir

Nick Zafir is a Western Australian contemporary artist working across murals, public art, painting and collaborative community projects.

Based in Perth and working throughout Western Australia, Nick creates bold, site-responsive artworks that draw from street art, painting, illustration and the natural environment. His work often brings together figurative imagery, plants, animals, colour and graphic forms to create artworks that feel connected to the people and places around them.

A graduate of Curtin University with a Bachelor of Fine Art, Nick has worked professionally across the arts for more than a decade. His experience spans large-scale mural commissions, public art projects, exhibitions, community arts programs, screen printing, textiles, workshops and arts development.

His public and community projects include commissions for local government, community organisations and private clients, alongside projects with organisations including FORM and Community Arts Network. Nick has also worked extensively within remote Aboriginal art centres, supporting artists, studio production, screen printing and the development of creative projects.

Alongside commissioned work, Nick maintains an independent studio practice exploring painting, drawing and mixed media. Across both his studio and public work is an interest in place, environment, people and the sometimes unexpected relationships between them.

Nick brings a relaxed and collaborative approach to projects while taking the practical side of delivery seriously — from developing an initial concept through consultation, design, production and installation.

Available for mural commissions, public art opportunities, creative workshops, community arts projects and selected collaborations across Perth, regional WA and beyond.
